The 31st annual reunion of the J. J. Sullivan family was on Saturday August 18, 2007 in the North Johnston High School cafeteria from 11:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Name badges had been printed and were distributed to each person attending the reunion.

A welcome was given by Jerry Johnson, son of Virginia Sullivan Johnson and grandson of Jack and Bertha Sullivan. Thanks were extended to all who helped with decorating and providing desserts.

Memorial candles were lighted in memory of Jack and Bertha Sullivan and Dorothy Helen Sullivan Chaapel. Geraldine Gaylor lit the candle in memory of Jack and Bertha. Mother died October 13, 1972 and daddy died May 21, 1976. Dorothy Sullivan Chaapel died March 5, 2007 at the age of 85. Jay Edwin Chaapel, son of Dorothy, lit the candle in memory of her. A tribute to Dorothy was read by Blanche Sullivan Peele, sister of Dorothy. A copy of the tribute will be placed in the permanent records of the Sullivan family. Thanks to Larry Sullivan for printing the tribute and making copies available to those attending the reunion. A few moments of silence were observed in their memory and Jerry Johnson offered a memorial prayer.

Six births were announced since the 2006 reunion. Jonathan Alan Sullivan was born August 23, 2006 and is the son of David and Kristie Sullivan and the grandson of Gene and Iris Sullivan. Sophia Grace Borgnis was born on September 20, 2006 and is the daughter of Luke and Jessica Borgnis and the granddaughter of Jim and Julie Turnbough and the great granddaughter of Marverine Godwin. Sarah Christine Johnson was born November 9, 2006 and is the daughter of John and Beth Johnson and the granddaughter of Jerry and Patricia Johnson and the great granddaughter of Virginia Johnson. Javier Cruz was born December 20, 2006 and is the son of Ivan and Tracey Cruz and the grandson of Buster and Beth Dawson and the great grandson of the late Wilmar and Grace Sullivan. Mason Emmitt Moore was born July 27, 2007 and is the son of Carl and Amber Moore and the grandson of Phillip and Debbie House and the great grandson of Wiley and Margaret Sullivan. Jonathan Baxter Patrick was born July 28, 2007 and is the son of Lange and Jamie Patrick and the grandson of Jim and Julie Turnbough and the great grandson of Marverine Godwin.

Jerry Johnson introduced family members and guests attending the reunion. Gene Sullivan reported an August 5 balance of $467.57 in the flower fund. The reunion next year will be at North Johnston High School on August 16.

Changes in the Sullivan Family Directory were discussed and a copy of the changes since last year was available for copying. Jim Turnbough, son-in-law of Marverine returned thanks for the meal. Everyone enjoyed a meal of barbecue, fried chicken, brunswick stew, boiled potatoes, slaw, hushpuppies and tea served by employees of Holt Lake Barbecue & Seafood. After the meal visiting continued, pictures were made and good byes were said.

If everyone is included above, 136 attended the reunion. We collected $1340.00 to pay for the food, building rental and to replenish the flower fund. We paid $970.00 to Holt Lake Barbeque and Seafood for food and tips. The rent for the building and custodial service was $170.00. The remainder was deposited to the flower fund ($200.00) bringing the current total in the fund $667.57.

Thanks to God for an enjoyable and successful reunion and safety in travel.
